How to Quickly Transform Daytime Makeup to an Elegant Evening Look

  1. 1
Remove makeup flakes or eyeliner smudges with a cotton swab. Gently brush the swab over any makeup that's showing wear and tear.
  2. 2
Cover up blemishes and dark circles under the eyes. Use a light-reflecting concealer pen to hide bags under the eyes or deep wrinkles and creases anywhere on the face. Use the pen only in the problem areas, and use your finger to blend the concealer into the skin to make it appear more natural.
  3. 3
Apply foundation to touch up shiny areas or spots where the makeup is faded or uneven. A compact with foundation is all you need.
  4. 4
Give the eyes an elegant look.

    • Use a black eyeliner pencil to accentuate the eyes.
    • Apply a thick line on the upper eyelid and use a cotton swab to blend it.
    • Draw thin line below and above the lower eyelashes. Apply the line beneath the lashes first, and then draw another inside the lashes along the rim.
    • Draw a thin line on the upper eyelid. Draw this line over the thick, smudged line you already applied, but do not blend this one.
    • Apply some powder to the upper eyelid. Take some powder from the compact and put it on the upper eyelid to help prevent smudging and to absorb moisture. You can simply use your finger to gently rub it on.
    • Apply a little mascara to the lashes to touch up what's already there.
  5. 5
Use a multiple to touch up the cheekbones. Take a little makeup from a multiple (a multi-purpose makeup stick), and dab it onto your cheekbone with your finger.
  6. 6
Rub just a small amount of tinted lip gloss on the lips. Use your fingers to smooth on just a small amount of the product.

  • If you don't like thick eyeliner like shown here, apply eyeliner right at the lash line. Use a smudge brush to smudge out along the lash line, softening the line of the eyeliner. Add a soft thin line under less than half of your lower lashes. For a more glamorous look, use a silver, purple or deep eyeshadow color in the crease of your eye or along the lid. Use the eyeliner method and add eyeliner to the inside rim of your lower eye. These both create a better smoky eye without the overdone eyeliner look. Instead of overwhelming the eye, it makes it look subtle, elegant and dramatic.
